Dear Friends,
Mention the word “Trump” and it often brings up an array of strong feelings in people. As such, I have generally felt it best to veer away from politics here.
Speaking of Trump, former Trump WH staffer, Omarosa Manigault Newman, said:
“If you ignore him, then you starve him of the thing that he loves the most, and that is controversy and attention."
Ignoring him is one option, and at the same time, we are coming into an important election cycle and the next US president will have a huge impact on the world, especially on climate change and other important issues.
I know some people in this community tend to vote more conservative and others, liberal … and in the US, some here lean towards Biden (likely the vast majority) and others to Trump.
While I respect everyone’s right to choose, Trump is very hard for me on a number of fronts, particularly refusing to accept election results and bragging about sexually assaulting women. (And yes, Democratic leaders have also acted immorally as well!)
Buddha Nature
But if we believe that every person has Buddha-nature, and everyone has teachings to offer, then there is a “Tao of Trump.”
There is something in Trump that I rarely witness: An intense dedication and commitment to his own viewpoint. No matter what happens, he sticks by his story: he did absolutely nothing wrong. Even when he loses an election, he seems to honestly think it was stolen and that he won.
AND how does he know it was stolen?
From what I can tell, if he thinks it was stolen, it must have been. What other proof does he need?
He adamantly and fiercely sticks to his positions, almost never (that I can remember) admitting a mistake or apologizing.
Focus
From one perspective, his level of focus, steadfastness, and determination is impressive. I know few other people with that level of commitment.
Sadly, the focus of his intense commitment appears to be … HIMSELF.
So if we take the Tao or the teachings of Trump, one may be to inquire:
What do WE care about? What are WE dedicated to?
Hopefully it is something other than ourselves.
There is a power in Trump, and I understand why people are drawn to that, and possibly the invitation for all of us is to harness that same power in ways that serve the whole. Maybe Trump is inviting us to up our game.
And those of us in the US can watch the US presidential debates starting this week, and decide for ourselves the quality of leader we want.
Blessings,
SOREN

Having lived with my father who was a sociopath, I agree that there is much to learn. But I would say that we have to be careful when attributing a conscience where there is none. Maybe the lesson is to wake up to the charisma of a sociopath and create clear boundaries to limit the devastation of such a person.
I'm extremely sorry you have taken the Trump-derangement-syndrome pill. The view expressed by the mainstream media is essentially that. Look back at Trump's pre-covid Presidential record: it's all wins for us. Look at the "Biden" record: everything you now see. Trump is the figurehead for the plan to save the USA and the world. Please get your information elsewhere. Start with We are One documentaries perhaps. Or a series called Communism through the Back Door. The facts should be plain: this administration is destroying our country. See the documentary "10,000 Mules" for just one bit of PROOF about the stolen 2020 election. Everyone needs to wake up!!! It's the 11:59th hour.
