Dear Friends,
One of the greatest capacities of humans is denial.
While Musk, for example, rallies against government expenses, the Washington Post found that his companies have received at least $38 billion in “government contracts, loans, subsidies, and tax credits over the past two decades.”
How can a person so against government spending (and who has hundreds of billions) be happy to receive $38 billion in help?
Because HE is not part of the problem, OTHER PEOPLE are the problem. He seems to think, “I am the hero here out to save America, not the villain.”
And he and others view the support they get as useful … and other items like the almost $1 billion cut to help farmers and provide kids healthy meals at schools … well, that is waste.
The Hero Complex
Men, particularly white men, get so easily caught in a hero complex. We are here to save the world, yet we do not see we are also part of the problem.
NOW, while I could just complain in this piece about the current leadership (and it is SO tempting) they are also a mirror. Afterall, what is outside must be inside.
Be it Liberal or Conservative or something else … what if see that we are all part of the problem; that we are both hero and villain?
Righteousness, selfishness, anger, ego tendencies … and love, compassion, care … what if we begin to see that we are all of it?
More on this later, but I am pretty sure:
What we see outside is also inside.
And as we transform our inside, the outside changes.
So simple, but not so easy. (See upcoming events below.)
Blessings,
The heroic impulse can be foolish or wise. Association with unwise and believing in wrong views (even by so-called geniuses) can be dangerous!
