Dear Friends,
I do not think we are born hating. I think it is learned.
And what we see across the world today is tremendously concerning, and it has nothing to do with any one political party.
If it is true, “Compassion is the glue that keeps a society together,” this glue is getting tested.
And compassion is hard and takes practice .. AND it is the fundamental responsibility of any decent leader.
The Era of Trump
We are in a new era. Will Trump be good for business? Possibly.
Will he be good for crypto? Likely.
Will he be good at decreasing the size of the government? Maybe.
Will he be good for increasing compassion and togetherness? VERY UNLIKELY.
To be honest, I have a Trump inside me. I can relate to that part that wants to only look out for myself, wants to win, and wants to protect what I have. There are aspects of his fierceness and courage that I appreciate.
The Democrats could learn a lot from him in some ways. And clearly the system is largely not working.
BUT we can have strong borders, insist on accountability, and decrease government waste … AND not seed hatred. And not seek revenge to people you dislike. And not go after anyone who disagrees with you.
And for heaven’s sake, please do not say this is “the Christian thing to do.”
The Danger
Most of our ancestors in the US were illegal immigrants, at least to the Native Americans who lived here at the time. As we secure our borders, we can treat people with respect, knowing they too seek a better life, just like we do.
The real danger isn’t losing elections; it’s losing our soul and humanity.
Let’s not let anyone, much less any political leader seeking power, convince us of anything different. Hate is too big a price to pay.
We will be tested, and I hope humanity will rise to the occasion. We will explore this more as time unfolds.
Blessings,
This is a meaningful and thoughtful post. Thank you.
I'm sorry but I'm a little more hateful than this. I have nothing nice to say about that man or what he's doing to this country or to me financially. I can't even plan for the future because I don't know what he's going to do next. That is not how Americans should live. Plus I live in New York which is a democratic straight but then we have Eric Adams and that's a whole another subject.
