The world of politics and social change has become increasingly divisive over the past decade, both in the US and abroad.

Often, we do not just disagree on issues; we believe the “other” (however we define it) is inherently unworthy and wrong.

As a result, we are seeing more extremist leaders who feed off this polarization and marginalize those they oppose. Then, as a new party gets elected, they often, in turn, marginalize the group that was in power, and the cycle continues.

We become a nation and a world divided, and we miss the shared humanity that unites us as people. Various media can often reinforce this tension by presenting images of “the other” that breed more division.
